Additional Guidelines and Recommendations

  • There are methods to contact emergency personnel and other workers from any location on the operation, including distant sites.
  • If cell phones are used:
    • Cell phone signal needs to be sufficient in all areas that phones will be used.
    • Batteries need to be kept charged.
    • Employees need to have all other employees’ cell phone numbers stored in their phones.
  • If two-way radios are used:
    • Batteries should be checked daily.
    • All employees know the correct channel to use and check the radios frequently to ensure they are on the correct channel.
    • Volume is set appropriately so employees can hear radios, especially in noisy situations.
