Additional Guidelines and Recommendations

  • Promptly remove animal feces and soiled bedding:
    • Inside pens.
    • In walkways adjacent to pens.
    • Do not carry feces and bedding through public areas.
  • Floors and surfaces should be made out of materials that are easy to keep clean (e.g., cement).
  • All surfaces (especially pen railings) should be cleaned and disinfected daily or whenever visibly soiled:
    • Clean to remove organic matter before disinfection.
    • 1:32 dilution of household bleach (1/2 cup bleach per gallon of water) is sufficient for basic disinfection.
