Eliminate access to areas with attractive nuisances.

Additional Guidelines and Recommendations

• Evaluate the hazard potential of the attractive nuisance:
  • Is it easily noticed by children?
  • Is it easy for children to get into the area and access the attractive nuisance?
  • Is this an area with no adult supervision?
• If possible, eliminate the attractive nuisance or prevent children from accessing the area.
  • Secure or lock all gates and doors to prevent access.
  • Remove ladders or other objects that children are likely to climb.
  • Remove or lock up tools and other equipment.
• If you cannot be sure that access to the attractive nuisance can be eliminated, ensure that the site is monitored when children are present.
