Additional Guidelines and Recommendations

  • Average incline of slides for preschool and school age children is no more than 30 degrees, with no section of the slide with a slope greater than 50 degrees.
  • Slide chutes for toddlers are between 8 and 12 inches wide.
  • Chute exit region:
    • Toddlers: Between 7 and 10 inches long if any portion of the chute exceeds 24 degrees, and no more than 6 inches above the protective surfacing.
    • Preschool and school age: At least 11 inches long. No more than 11 inches above the protective surfacing if slide is 4 feet high or less, and 7 to 15 inches above the surface if slide is over 4 feet high.
  • Signs indicating appropriate ages for playing on equipment are in place.
